Sonnet: October

October

A breeze fades into the cool of the night.

The crisp leaf guides me into the concrete.

I push far away and I am complete.

Oh look! My mind found a way passed the light.

My dreams of fall no longer have a sight.

For my stride knows nothing of being neat.

And my heart has already lost its meat.

No other wars are left for me to fight.

There is no resentment for this feeling.

In fact, there are no feelings to exist.

The colors of tonight are not healing.

Blurs in the sky make me raise up a fist.

I stop and I am suddenly kneeling.

My soul has known better than to persist.
