Sonnet for a Powerful Woman

Dear Grandma,

There is no way to compare your love,

In times of need ,

You flew to me just like a dove,

Like an angel with a heavenly deed.

I miss your laugh,

Your careful lessons and planned words,

You wrapped me in a towel prior to many baths,

Days with you is what I preferred.

Now you’re gone and it is true,

Times have changed, the past is done.

I wish I had said what I should have to you,

Moon has come, as the set of the sun.

As heartbreaking and sad as your death has been

What an amazing life, one that others may never win.

Love Always,

Rachel Richards
