A Sonnet On The Things I Need

Need shelter to survive

But what does that mean?

Need daily food to strive

But what can we then glean?

Need water to beat my chest

But why must I this do?

Need Maslow to be the best

But where does this let us, yes, go?

On base instincts we live

So difficult to rise above

Only ourselves that we can give

The strength to think, the will to love

We live under this poor request

Only in death do we find rest
