A Sonnet for a Washingtonian Sunset

A melting pot of golden rays

Spreads across the varying

Hues, like a multicolored field of haze,

Of the Washingtonian sunset sky- scattering

And defracting in the atmosphere

To bless our eyes with a

Splendid beauty that draws a tear

Through a look at the

Horizon rimmed by Cascade mountains

Reaching towards clouds grazing

Amongst the field of elation

And spontaneity- so amazing.

The single drop of ambrosia

Disappears with smooth, surreptitious motion.
