Sonnett: Shaded by the Dragon

Shaded by the dragon of believing,
In my minds eye we share our desires.
Yes.  Mere  notions of my heart perceiving,
That which shalt be cast upon the pyres.

Know that in thy presence all earth trembles.
My heart rains full and pounds deep with  thunder.
Alas, passion not returned is for fools
Who hear the roar but must retreat to wonder.

I must be wise and measure my intent
For notions of the heart must search beyond
Any  noble or princely manner bent,
And find a path to which you might respond.
Now mere dreams must fuel my passion’s fire.
Now mere dreams of you fulfill my desire.
