Sore thumb

I sat here yesterday
I counted every single loc of hair on my head
There were 117 of them
I woke up today and there were 118
Now whether I miscounted either time is not the issue
The real matter at hand is why?
Why was is there one more today than yesterday
Optimism is why,
positivity is why,
hope is why,
individuality is why
I counted one more whether it was there or not
because I wanted it to be there
Deep down we all want more
Those who seem to have the most are the least happy
Because see they have possessions but feel a need for more
A longing
A sense of satisfaction is missing
One that no accumulation of wealth can quench
So today I asked myself what I really need to feel satisfied
And myself answered
Individuality
Refusal to conform
Conformity is that hole in satisfaction we seek to fill
The one plug that fits
That one plug is Individuality
So I stick out like a sore thumb
Satisfied
