Sorrow
Alone and on the floor,
crying sobs of sorrow.
Fear is at the door,
yet I cannot move.
They say life is but a dream,
as we go merrily along.
My face is pale as cream,
and all my hope has vanished.
My lungs are full of fire,
heart heavy as a hammer.
Love is what I require,
yet still I’m so alone.
They say it’s for the weak,
just the easy way out.
I’m on a crying streak,
yet no one even cares.
I would be gone,
no worries for my “friends.”
The casket would leave at dawn,
and no tears would be shed.
They say those people are selfish,
only thinking of themselves.
They think we’re all careless,
and death won’t end the struggle.
I am but a shadow,
crying out for help in the dark.
Everyone does not know,
know that I am so close to giving up.
The tears could form a river,
the sorrow could destroy a small town.
I just happen to get a shiver,
when I think how I almost drown.
