The Sorrow of Loss at Midnight

The inhabitants are crying,

Through sorrow so deep.

They are not laughing,

They can not smile,

They will not speak.

They will not wear white,

They will not wear pink,

They can not be bright.

None of them are happy,

With laughter filling the air,

And teeth flashing pearly,

And eyes sparkling like diamonds.

They will not be full of joy.

Every once in a while is a flash,

A young child dances by,

Eyes might light up,

It won't last long

On the gloomy night.
