Sorry
I’m sorry.
I’m sorry I’m not the perfect little housewife
Who cooks your meals every day.
I’m sorry I can’t be the person you want.
I’m sorry I have to be me instead of her-
Or her or her
(I see the way you stare).
I’m sorry that I disappoint you;
I know I disappoint myself sometimes.
I’m truly sorry you fell for me-
it wasn’t what you needed.
I’m sorry that I can’t fix us or make it all better
(I never learned how).
Instead, I learned how to cower away and
How to blow things out of proportion.
Like that one night you came home late.
I’m sorry I just don’t know how to change,
Yet I have faith that you’ll eventually love me just the way I am
Or else, I know that someone else will
And I bet you’ll be sorry if that day ever comes.
