Soul
Dear Soul,
To think I could think is no longer a lie
No longer a concept from which I hide
A gift I was given and with I fly
I am no longer a captive held captive inside
My heart is a martyr and my mind a fighter
Onward and upward I climb ever higher
Such as Icarus I soar towards the fire
With freedom in my lungs my arms will not tire
I love what I am and no longer fear who I was
Because I am me
I am my past
I will not forget
I am my future
I will continue to reach
I am no one else except me
I will not apologize for what I say
The words pour from my tongue and form like clay
A being all its own not innocent nor afraid
Dear Soul this is your call and a challenge I must take
With Regards from Within,
Yourself
