Soul Burnt
Startled awake. frightened by ghosts. Lost love once again vibrant and true.
Lost breath reclaimed, glancing at the missing past empty next to me.
Dreams of fire and passion, betrayal and love.
Nightmares of compassion and futures planned.
Shaken by reality, tears revolt against better intent,
Missing the half, required to be whole.
Sun beams fail to penetrate the stale darkness, burning from within
Feet slam to the cold floor as another day requires brick and mortar,
Obligations, and determinations keep the mind distracted,
Alone, thoughts of past moments of happiness,
dreading the future to never hold again,
Shake the woman free from the pedestal,
reclaim my soul, rebuild my wall;
Strength reclaimed by sundown, power restored.
Till you awaken me again, till we dance again and you rob me,
once again, I love my sleep and dread the waking moment.
For you are of dream thought and able to create my peace.
Peace, unearned and undeserved.
through the fire i tread to hold you,
through fire you burn me,
Through dreams, i burn and love.
