SOUL-CHI
Chi-Raq, SOUL-CHI, Murder City
I am beautiful amongst the trees yet ugly on the screen
My fertility is fine yet my children always die
And Yes, I feel pain
When Each Is Slain
No Matter The Rain
Or If It Was On Main
I Cry
And My Tears Are Not Red Or Blue
Nor Brown Or Black
They Are Clear As Glass
I See Behind The Colorful Mask
So Yes, I Cry
Crying internally, garnering all the pain, so I can try
By Filling Happiness, Cookouts, and Opportunities In My Flask
Yet This Is Not A Mask
Though Your Father Dressed Me In Pipes And Railways For Himself,
I tore and cut a new style for you
I created a tune for two
Ask Loleatta Holloway
My Systemic Segregated Highways
All Pour Into To A Mosaic Of Tall And Short Byways
And Though Famous Sly Snakes Throw Signs To Represent Me,
There Is Always That Day
When Even They
Will Only Hear My Voice: Mama Lee
My Voice Is Free
You Must Never Forget That I am Your Mother
A Mother Of Each Other
Not Just Thy Brother
And Remember Who I am
I am beautiful as my smile reflects in the night sky
But So Tough
That Some Will Have Had Enough.
But I am preparing you for the scorch of Mrs. O’Leary,
The Greed, Deceitfulness, and Hatred That
Lays Even More Menacingly Outside Of My Prairie.
Please Listen To Me
I do not speak nuthin but once
Although I may seem shy amongst the polarizing voices of the sky
Nuthin Is As Final,
As Artistic,
Nor Intelligible, As
You, My Soul-Chi
