Soul's Dance

It was a night like any other in that small, quiet town The soft wind whistled as the gentle drops came down Wind was not unusual nor was the rain’s beat Unusual was the girl in the middle of the street Her skin was pale as the moon that was hidden Her lips bleeding a dark shade of crimson Hair that was long and shimmering gold Caressed her shoulders that shivered cold She lifted her head and with eyes like coal Stared deep and searching into my soul As I fell to my knees from the strength of that glance She lifted her arms and with a bow…danced The wind began to howl, to moan and shriek I collapsed on the ground, my body weak Thunder roared and the rain turned to hail Still she danced in spite of the gale I watched her move through half-open eyes The hail become softer as she started to cry Her dance began crazy and ended so light And there she stood bathed in starlight With swift, slow steps she came to my side And spoke simple words that killed me inside “That was your soul chaotic and dark, No light can live in a devilish heart” I stared in wonder as we were covered with flame I took her hand and asked for a name She smiled sadly and said with a breath “My name and your end, is death”
