Sound

The wooden step numbs my butt

as I hide in the dark on the top of the steps

watching, waiting.

The kitchen table is turned over with chairs scattered around it.

That's probably what woke me,

other than the screaming.

A train passes bym

the walls tremble.

Screeching, sobbing,

nothing.

Defeaning,

like the low hum after an argument is over.
