The Sound

And in the end that was all she could hear;
The sound of his breathing as he made his assault.
She screamed, but it was if no one was near.
How could this have been her own fault?

The sound of his breathing as he made his assault;
She could never forget the pain of that day.
How could this have been her own fault?
That’s what the cops and the relatives say.

She could never forget the pain of that day.
“You’re just a whore and you’re too far gone.”
That’s what the cops and the relatives say.
“What were you doing to lead him on?”

“You’re just a whore and you’re too far gone.”
She screamed, but it was if no one was near.
“What were you doing to lead him on?”
And in the end that was all she could hear.
