Sound and Spectacle
Vertebrate ripple beneath my fingers
And ribbons of violence dance
Across the sea of insecurities
That you built just for me.
I unspool the curse you placed
Inside of my body, deep, asleep
Near where my soul vibrates
And I lose myself in thought.
Heavy pools of color unfold
Throughout my veins, my heart;
Which cannot sing faster now
Though it tries for you.
A blank sheet of paper invites me
To pour out the blackness that shivers
Underneath the rhythm of happiness
That my body seems to make.
You told me the cure to discord,
Lost in your words, I forgot
Until I found myself
Spinning around my own harmony.
I find my freedom in the noise
Racing between the buildings
And the trees that sway
To their own song.
I am effortlessly dancing, winding
Through your mind and tearing away.
I hope you never catch me again.
I am wild.
