The Sound of Life

It began with R&B and Gospel

Daycare and preschool

The soulful voice of Smokie Norful meets the harmonic voices of TLC

Learning how to praise God and put a a man in check

Singing I need you now followed by Don’t go chasing waterfalls

Being raised a strong Christian woman who didn’t need a Bugaboo

And could pay her own Bills, Bills, Bills

But also knows that she Never would've made it without God to help her

Then it moved to country

1st to 3rd grade

Jason Aldean alongside The Band Perry

Wondering what would happen If I Die Young

Wanting to travel and sing the Dirt Road Anthem

And learning how to listen to the Voices in my head

Jealous of how some fathers stay up waiting for their daughters and Cleaning Their Guns

But realizing that all People Are Crazy

Next, Kpop and Anime OSTs

4th through 8th grade

Mesmerized by Rain and Air Gear

Mumbling along to Fantastic Baby by Big Bang and Chain by BACK-ON

Understanding how hard I must work to succeed and that every culture is Beautiful

Knowing Everybody doesn’t have to be the same and that I must not be swayed by the Wind

Middle School making me want to Go Crazy

Making a Promise to myself to never forget my life has No Limit

Now, anything

From Lyfe Jennings’ Must Be Nice to Dynamic Duo’s Jam

From BVB’s In the End to CNCO’s Reggaeton Lento

From Clannad’s Dango Daikazoku to Drake’s Nice for What

From songs with meaningful lyrics to songs with catchy rhythms to songs with both

Appreciating diversity in every shape and form

What next?
