The Sound of a Secret
“Shh” is the sound you made to hide your secret. A secret you wanted no one to know except for you and me. It crept in my ear just like the sound of white noise. That sound and the touch you made are the haunting memories of a fearful secret you made me keep to myself.
Except, when the stillness and the sound became too much to bare. I decided to break away from the fear and share the shameful secret you forced on me. You no longer had control over me and I was given praise for breaking my silence. Now I can feel the touch of a lover who wants to just love me and not feel ashamed. I can look at myself in the mirror and not see a scared teenage girl but a full grown women who conquered the monster.
