Sound of Silence

Here, in the living room

I hear

my grandma singing

along the loud chinese music,

my sister watching

a video at max volume.

my c

      l quickly drop

as I do my homework

Growing up,

my parents believe

bedroom is for sleeping

no homework table needed

the bed is only made for sleeping

no homework done on it

But here, in the attic

I do not hear

my grandma singing

along the loud chinese music,

my sister watching

a video at max volume.

my sanity is intact

in peace, I do my homework

A place that

allows me to hear the

sound of silence

is the place

I cannot live without

in times like these

in the bustling city
