The Sound of Water
The flowing cadence of words
Bobbing along the surface and sinking
Into my bones and along my skin
The drag of consonants over my ears
Pushes me below the roaring rush
Of vowels, silently slipping
My eyes skim over the waves
Recognizing emotion under artifice,
I am swept into the stanzas
A continuous pull of noise
Washing over the moment
And fading into the next
Each drop of a letter drips,
Through the page and beyond
Into the eyes of those who read
Warmth of sound surprises me
The shape of my mouth like the sun,
Giving meaning to the intricate syllables
Like the sand, I am renewed
With each surge of words
I am able to feel more
Each enlightenment of water
As unique as the one within it
And the one creating it
