Sounds Can Go As Far As You Can See
Death has been around since the beginning of life,
But its arrival is met with hostility,
When the clock strikes 12 we absorb the night,
In hopes to live through memory…
Injustice metastasizes through lives unknown,
The cases of many who die by jury,
So many pleas and so many cries,
But tears aren’t enough to convince the hand of God!
When YellowMama begs for food she is often fed fear,
Terrified eyes that dare to say, “I AM INNOCENT”…
Families filled with unrest, communities in despair,
All of this makes for a tasty desert.
Then the wind blows, the revolution lasts for a minute,
This time it’s televised, and it’s your favorite commercial,
The 60 seconds of freedom is enraging and responsive,
Then the cage door is closed and locked again,
One has to wonder why…
One has to wonder when…
One has to wonder how…
And one has to wonder because…
The reason cannot be explained but it’s justified through pain,
It occurs when the placenta is done with its mission,
Society attaches an umbilical cord to its darker subjects,
Just because it can.
But nutrients aren’t being fed, they’re being taken,
When one feels weak they say “Is This Me?”,
Sometimes Geppetto is clumsy with his work,
And subjects are lost in the woods,
Vision is spotty, air whistles in my direction,
Something chases me, I can live or gain freedom,
I’m terrified of liberty,
I’m too terrified to die.
I hear something in the distance but I can’t see what it is,
Is this me? Am I blind? Am I deaf?
Maybe both…
Perhaps that would explain the cage…
…I AM INNOCENT BUT THEY NEVER LISTEN!
My one minute is up, and I am fed to YellowMama,
As they hook me to the chair I become alive moreso than ever before,
The final wish of this innocent man is for people to hear the truth,
LOOK AT ME…and hear my pain.
Death has been around since the beginning of life,
But its arrival is met with hostility,
When the clock strikes 12 we absorb the night,
In hopes to live through memory…
