Sounds of Escape

I am enveloped in an empathetic sea

From this jungle of uncertainty.

At the mercy of this melodic rite,

My raft of loneliness longs.

Find me, in the rhythm-- the beat,

Repeating its dominion over my

Deepening dream of desperation and desire.

The tempo delivers me from my tormentors;

A noose of thoughts-- the dictators of my heartbeat,

But overwhelmed with an overture,

I am hidden-- forgotten for a minute,

Minutes just enough to

Drift from life’s melancholy disharmony.

Captured, my attention is controlled.

Can a rupture breach the resonance of this movement in my mind?

These verses, my knowing narrative,

Gnaw my senses-- shifting

A supervening sound indefinable.
