From South Central to College

Always looked down upon in this society

Are they right or is it just because I'm part of a "minority"?

Many people might say I'm a hot mess

yet im still in school, trying to pass all my classes

people just don't understand

that even though im brown, im still trying to be everything I can

hearing gunshots, growing up in a rough neighborhood

telling myself eveything is gonna be all good

As time went on, I started acting like a fool

and ended up getting moved from school to school

then one day I realized I was ruining my life

so i caught up with my credits and stopped waisting time

Started staying in school and getting good grades

So I asked myself, is it okay to let them judge me based on my past mistakes?

But I'm very very stubborn and persistent

So I refuse to let them stop me from completing my mission

Now I got my eye on Universities

Who would of thought I would be thinking about going to UC Berkley?

I'm just focused on getting admitted into college

so I could come back and show everyone a different image...

that just because we're Latinos or Chicanos

doesn't mean we're gonna end up being "cholos"

So i write this verse

to show that imma keep on trying even though I'm hurt
