The space between the stars

The space between the stars

Is darkness...

...the only thing we

and the stars touch, together.

I lay in it

I stare longingly

Does this make me a star?

To lay in the darkness so...

Or does this make me part of the darkness?

Is this the struggle of humanity?

To be

Surrounding

Dense

Cold

Yet flaring

Bright

Constant

And to not know

If one is a star, surrounded by darkness...

Or just the darkness between the stars
