The Space Between Us

The Space Between Us

The space between us

is gaining in expanse.

A tangible, genuine Romance

Has been judged superfluous.

The space is alive

And growing

Like the Ganges flowing.

A wet monsoon feeding its drive

Our mutual separation

What I used to adore...

I love you now, less than before.

Indifference, arisen from this cessation.

The accusations you made,

I could say the exact about you,

List the horrors you did too,

It was all a charade.

What I thought was Destiny,

Was simply a bridge,

An ephemeral hedge.

Against a preordained necessity.

The space between us

Has liberated me

A directed decree.

Nothing more to discuss.

I am trying to capture the feelings about a relationship that has ended, and moved into the next phase, in as few words as possible. Indifference comes after the pain. This is a poem about my feelings and addressed to no one in particular, rather a thing that has haunted me. Please be critical with your comments. Thank you. Sean
