Sparkling Shoes

Sparkling Shoes by Jazmin Cordero As the day draws near, she fills with anticipation. Butterflies in her stomach, what an awkward sensation. As she looks in the mirror and fixes her hair, Touching up her make-up, she gets lost in her stare. She can only imagine what the young night may bring, All dolled up waiting, for the door bell to ring. Sitting and waiting, the time flies by, Staring at the clock hoping the hands lie. But now she is faced with the brutal bitter truth, She’s been stood up by her date, a handsome male youth. Finally convinced this was all a big ruse, Her tear drops fall silently on her new sparkling shoes.
