"Sparring Sister"

My lovely darling, so pure and white

Always sleeping--light of my life

See, the problem with you

Is that you set expectations for others,

And yet act like those demands don’t apply to you

Get angry at those who don’t sentry upon your arrival,

Yet are captivated by your phone,

Making us wait minutes upon minutes

For the chance for you to glimpse us through the window.

No speed is fast enough to satisfy the queen--

Biting barks and a scalding tongue rewards a greeting smile.

Even now, I ignore that never-ceasing buzzing phone

To spare my ears and whatever’s left of my soul

From your spray of acid rain.

Nothing quite warms your core

Than your sister’s molten glare and

Biting derision,

After a long day of waging war.
