Sparrow

~One's name can make them

Mine means Sparrow~

So sometimes I know why the Caged Bird Sings

What else can it do

But remember the good days

And try to get back there

Or maybe that's all it knows how to do

Sing

Maybe that's how they handle loneliness, or isolation

Maybe singing makes them feel something other than pain

And sometimes I want to feel the wind beneath my wings

hair blowing in my face

Sun caressing my scars and reassuring my path

But its not always a perfect day

And the wind doesn't always blow in the direction I'm traveling

So I have to go with the flow

Sometimes it's easier to be caged, to be forced to not change and adapt

To have your only purpose be

To stay,

Right in that moment

But like a sparrow

I urge to be free

But once I am,

The battle only begins.
