Speak

Hello Communication

Remember me?

I was the one you helped to free.

When I was lonely in my thoughts,

You told me thoughts were not enough,

And taught me the power of voice.

You showed me empathy,

The meaning of “sorry”,

The declaration for equality,

The appeal of truth.

More than that, eventually,

I moved on from speaking quietly.

Now I speak loud and clear

Even if it’s just to the mirror.

Thoughts shape perception, certainly,

But words shape reality.

Confident,

Brave,

Warrior.

Although I am scared,

These words I use

To describe myself.

Confident,

Brave,

Warrior.

Now I become those words I speak

Look now at who I am.

Are you proud of me?

Confident,

Brave,

Warrior.

Our thoughts have escaped

Together we speak.

We are confident,

We are brave,

We are warriors.

Can you hear our voice?

We deserve to be heard.
