speak up

I was walking back to my dorm.

Frat parties aren't my scene so I was alone.

I know, I know im not the norm.

He caught me off guard and I turned to stone.

That four letter monster popped into my head.

Keys clutched in my fist as a weapon.

This is the moment all women dread.

He's unafraid and he steps in.

No means no until it's dark and I'm alone.

I can hear it now "what was she wearing?"

I should have had 911 on my phone.

Who could I trust being a women no one is caring.

"Soften up" He says "No!" I hissed.

Telling the story hurts all over again

"This happens all the time" the officer dismissed.

"Wait so you mean nothing is gonna happen to him?!"

This isn't normal, this shouldn't be the way.

Dont tell me it's my fault or blame it on me.

Please speak up ladies we have all say!

Does it really matter that my pronoun is "she"?

Medusa wore this or had too much to drink.

Society's norms need to be replaced.

No means no, no matter what you think!

I'm medusa and my story will not be erased!
