Speak

Words

Once spoken

Some float away

Traveling in sound waves

Out into distant space

But some like to linger in place

Engraving themselves in the sky

And although their sound may fade

The words themselves

Forever remain

Words

Are dangerous

The wrong tone

Can make a word

Not so harmless

Try a fraise

A serious of risks

With every spoken word

For if placed in the wrong order

Consequences emerge

Redemption is unheard

Words

Are so ruthless

Angry

And unforgiving

Yet thrown into the air

So casually

Not being recognized

For their vengeful nature

Of each letter

The patients they contain

Waiting in the air

With such disdain

Slaying their speaker

When the moment pertains

Words

But I know words

I have dissected them

Learning their every nook and cranny

Discovering they are not so scary

Not so uncanny

I have cradled them

Treasuring their every letter

Placing them in orders for the better

Untangling their messes

Unearthing their successes

Pouring their strengths into one single fraise

Looking at my masterpiece I am amazed

Words

They say think before you speak

And now I no longer feel so weak
