Speak
When he called for her,
she knew what was to come.
She found him sitting at the dining table in the dark.
His computer opened up to display all of her empty schoolwork.
His phone in his hand,
and bills spread across the table on front of him.
He looked up at her,
And pointed to the computer screen with shaking hands.
His bloodshot eyes seemed to scream "why."
"Was this your plan all along?" He yelled.
"To make us suffer while you live on happily?"
To that she said nothing. Just stared.
The words "blank" and "empty" written all over her face.
He a shot a disgusted look at her.
The both knew that there was no hope for her left.
He began to shout "answer me!"
And then, she turned and walked away from him.
Words do not faze her anymore.
She has lost the ability to feel.
Only when she is locked away with her secrets,
does she let the sadness of his words fall from her lashes.
But still, only the essence of grief falls.
There is no sound of despair from her.
No face of anguish.
All because she doesn't speak.
All because she doesn't feel.
