Speak Your Mind Slam over Taekwondo

Location

When I first thought of slam poetry, I had nothing

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

Then I thought, What's the most important thing to me?

Taekwondo, it's what I breath, what I think

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

Taekwondo is what I live for

I wake up everyday with a purpose, to win

A lot of people ask me why? Why do you fight?

And whenever I think about this...

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

What I fight fot is not only a medal around my neck

I fight to show every person who said I would never win

     that they were wrong

I fight to show the doctors who thought that I would never walk

     that they were wrong

I fight to show the people who never supported me

     that they should have

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

What I fight for is to make my loved ones proud of me,

to show that their support was worth it

What I fight for is to show my Grandma and Grandpa in heaven

my best because they never got to see me compete

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

I fight to show everyone I can push through health scares and injuries

This year alone, a broken shin, a broken ankle and low blood volume

I will win, to show everyone I can

I might be stubborn, but in my sport that's a good thing

Thump-Thump, the adrenaline moving through me

This year at Nationals, with my heart going a million beats a second

I will win to make everyone never forget my name again and

Never have to ask again why I fight.
