Speak your own truth

This society’s twisted values

has corrupted our views about

what is of merit.

That makes me sick because

my son will grow up

in a world where he must follow

ignorant, unwritten, and outdated rules

of how to be everyone’s definition

of masculine except his own.

My daughter will grow up

in a world where she is viewed as worthless

if she doesn’t look like a size 0 supermodel

who refuses to eat in fear of gaining an inch.
