The Special Place

The luscious trees stand proudly

Their vibrant red leaves swaying

Golden sunlight filters through

Whoosh, the leaves come dancing down

This is my special place

I stand transfixed just one more time

Hearing the laughter, the stories

The memories that are here, wrapped in the trees

And around me echoes the story

Of my life in my special place

4 years of my life are here

And now to leave

To carry on with my journey

To head off to an uncertain path

Despite my longing to remain in my special place

But now, this chapter is ending

It is time to move on

For me to leave and for you to carry on

And I hope you will continue to stand tall

For you will always be my special place

Yet as I find comfort in your embrace

I look back at it all

And I turn this page,

Leaving you to someone else

To be their special place
