Speech of a Shaking Sonnet Scribe

  • 1
  • My life has been a bleeding roller coaster.
  • So you want to hear the reason I lament?
  • God took the pistol of fate out its holster,
  • and shot me in the back with no supplement.
  •
  • My legs wobble when I walk, go forth and back,
  • My mouth hangs so I can’t speak a single word.
  • My knees buckle like I’m a dancing Cossack,
  • People look at me cruelly like I’m absurd.
  •
  • Mine own mother has doubt in me,
  • Father knows not what can be done.
  • Docs think that it’s quite plain to see
  • That “there’s nothing wrong with your son.”
  •
  • Life became a never-ending grind.
  • I was beginning to lose my mind.
  •
  • 2
  • I’d lay in bed all day my head a fray,
  • Either that or shaking like an epileptic.
  • It lead my way to be dead by decay,
  • There was nothing I could do except tic.
  •
  • While I rested,  my mind meandered far,
  • Nothing was beyond my mental ability.
  • Inscribing statements some saw as bizarre,
  • Simply from lack of bodily capability.
  •
  • Every day my life went farther down the holes,
  • My friends stopped calling, and I kept falling.
  • My grades dropped like my hopes and my goals,
  • My mother’s stalling, and then she’s bawling.
  •
  • I’d sit in my den like a drake.
  • Put words down, no censor, not fake.
  •
  • 3
  • Learned a myriad from what I had
  • Taken from me so quick.
  • For example, take a sample, my dear lad
  • of my elegant trick.
  •
  • You’ll see the wit that made me me,
  • And what gave me what I wanted.
  • I learned it doesn’t matter the weakness they see,
  • It’s the strength that should be flaunted.
  •
  • I learned it matters not that I lay like a stone,
  • Long as I got a chair I can roll.
  • I’ll write with words all of my own,
  • Long as I can think, that makes me whole.
  •
  • The world’s still my oyster, redemption, I'm on it.
  • First I put my thoughts in Shakespearean sonnet.

More a writer than a poet, but still good at both.
