Speed of Joy

Speed of Joy

Putting on the suit I begin to feel,

The jolt of the tires on the wheel.

I slip on the helmet and feel the sqeeze,

Then I get nervous and begin to wheeze.

Because soon I'd know,

I'll be in a car head to toe.

Into the car I now go,

Almost touching the ground from being so low.

Then the engine roars to life,

Sounds of horsepower and as sharp as a knife.

Pull up to the line an get ready,

Receiving a good luck from my best friend Eddy.

I see red, yellow and then green,

And I take off with horespower so mean.

100, 150, 200, 250 , 300 m.p.h., and I continue to tower,

Wishing his feeling lasted an hour.

That feeling I get will never annoy,

Because that is my speed of joy.
