SPIDER
Out right now
Out is where he’s always been
They look at him in disgust
and there starts the defiance
An old man nearby
working and non-stop hammering
He wishes at times that he’d be him
A lack of will and passion swept
He’d catch it instantly and didn’t let go
now, later and never.
Her eyes were green and quite honest she’d been
waves of golden hair swayed like a rebel
Soon he’s be enchanted by that pale face
and that’ll be the end of that.
The grass was still greener
The birds still chirped in the morning
The people shat and washed their ass
The girl shaved to look sexy in shorts
The trucks made that dying noise again
The economy sucked and so did humanity
And he still lay in bed.
Guilt and embarrassment took over the fight
while he masturbated painfully at night
and wake up next morning with a strange fever
Fits of weeping soaked the damn carpet
Hell! The damn ground wasn’t sacred to start with
He’d think of her but it’s all right
went back to writing that awful story.
He breathed destruction in the room
Hope and faith had drifted away
Now, the sun rose again
brighter than usual
Why the hell, damn!
Slouched and wet, put on clothes
dragging onto another melancholic night.
Busy he’d stay
that idiot kid
Silly at times
looking up the sky
always darker but maybe the stars winked
He seeked brightness
any form, he’d accept.
A canvas is what he needed
make that two
long and thin
He painted it all brown at first
adding strong red strokes
They called it abstract, a coward
He called it ‘mine’
In the winter, the canvas shined
like ruby
It was wonderful and awful the same time
They told him to wash it away
never get a canvas, you damn fool!
But the defiant said, “Fuck you all!”
And again the people shat and pissed
The men and women hungered for sex
The drugs were good money
but so was everything else
The doctors sucked the life
Gods, they were called
The weather grew warm
burning the heads of those bald men.
That idiot stood over the edge
He loved the view, lights and all
it consumed him, at ease
Breathed in and out
Ready for it
This would be the end of that
so it shall be it
Vision turns blurry
Yes, he did. He jumped.
Passed by the 66th
He saw a flash of green eyes
It never had to be that way
maybe she’d miss him, maybe not
Love you forever, dead or not. Baby.
The long night passes
and the city was alive
Roaring people and screeching vehicle
same as every day
Except for the hospital across 8th avenue
A driver missed the signal
Huge accident
with blaring horns and raging men
He woke up still and again
A world with hell
Everyone doomed
The spiders crossed their paths merrily.
