The Spilling of Thoughts

Like the waves of the sea crashing over my tongue

With poetry, my thoughts and actions are linked into one

The undulating and rhythmic phrases flowing forth from my brain

reflect who I am, what I think, and what I want to grow into one day

Reading poetry (a verbal dessert) is delicious

Writing poetry (a basin for my thoughts) is satisfaction

Although my words may have no rhyme or meter

They mirror the trailing thought, the regretted last word, or love and happiness

I write because of the release

I write because of the joy

Poetry allows me to spill out the contents of me

And form my disparate thoughts into a pleasant ode or melody

To me, poetry isn't a dreaded word or activity in school

It is as profound and deep as a bottomless pool
