Spine

Stubborn as it was,

My spine remained rigid

And alert.

Days passed by.

But it was not the days

That drew my curvature inward.

Nor was the curvature inward

The reason of my days.

But rather a consequence.

The use and stress of the day turning

To the next was what did me in.

And eventually,

After many days had been flipped

And flipped back over again

Strong and relentless,

I began to bend.

Leaning into the day.

No longer resisting.

The days turn.

And the lineaments connecting the spine to its body follow each other.

Finally working in tandem.

Its body progresses until the last day is done.

Until The last page is turned
