Spiral

I find solace in one day being my own person

In leaving behind the past set for me, in leaving behind the system that’s failed me

It is all I have, the shining beacon of light at the end

The first splash of water after a year without rain

I find solace in knowing I control my future

That the monotonous spiral of my daily life will be no more

The cycle can be broken, it will be in due time

Those lost will smile down at my success, I will incite their pride

It will happen, in due time
