Spirit of Prayer

Spirit of Prayer

When I think of you, my spirit sours beyond my mind,

where prophets weave their rapturous rhyme,

on tapestries so finely spun and hung.

Where earthly eyes can't see, the phrases only meant for thee.

Praise put to lover's hopeful tune,

on noted threads so humbly sung.

I hear it not with ear, but somewhere deep within my soul,

a wavelength set beyond control

of fantasies; this world's forgetful hum.

Yet never far from thee, my soul in longing reverie,

morns thy loss, if but a wink.

The time beats heavy 'till again you come.

If it was for me, I'd sing the song in ageless halls

for you and never once recall,

the faded image of this life's failed tune.

My prayer must always be, sung with pleasing quality,

in tune with prophet's tapestry,

in ageless thread that binds my soul to thee.
