A Splash Of Yellow

The room was grey

The world’s saddest color.

Why were all hospital rooms grey?

The world’s saddest color?

Everything about the room was grey.

The walls, the floor, even the T.V.

didn’t matter what was on it.

The T.V. was always grey.

I would've forgotten colors even existed

if it weren't for the sunflower.

It didn’t matter what doctor came in

it didn’t matter was new thing was wrong with me

the sunflower stayed the same.

It just stood there.

Right outside my window in perfect sight.

Standing there perfectly still and same.

The beautiful plant stood there getting stronger,

while I lied there getting weaker.

Soon there was nothing but an empty room,

and a colorless window.
