Spoon and knife
The Spoon And The Knife
There’s a six year difference between me and her
she’s the favorite one no question, but I must concur.
They gave her her the Silver Spoon, I was thrown the Knife
my big sister has had a much easier life
I was punished for my grades cus they weren’t all A’s
but she hid her report cards so she didn’t have to pay.
So I kept working harder and I tried to be tough,
but even God’s telling me I’m not good enough.
I’ve been picked on for my color while she can pass as white.
I’ve been trashcanned and picked on forced to take a victim’s plight.
While my sister acts like an angel giving God her poisoned grace
while I lie about school, so I can try to save face.
I’m responsible, I barely play, I try to keep on track,
while my sister continuously stabs us in the back.
when she used to go and party bringing boys home at night
I got yelled at for a house not clean, and homework not done right.
They skipped my school engagements to go and see her dance.
They placed her on a Pedestal, and struck me with the Lance.
She had a baby, broke the rules, and still they let her stay,
and I was the one who ended up moving far away.
I started losing focus, getting stressed, feeling scared,
and my mom just brushed it off said, “She didn’t Fucking care,”
and my dad was too tired to help me out during the day,
So I tried to be at school, for as long as I could stay.
I lost respect for myself, my health, my life
to keep up with expectations bearing down like a knife.
And like the good brother Michael tearing off his brother’s wings
sister rises, I have fallen, I’m no good for anything.
Why did mom love Brigit more than she loved me?
Is Second Place always where I’m gonna have to be?
can they ever understand all the pain I went through,
to be that good child they could look up to?
I’ll continue to take the beating of that cold dead knife
while my sister keeps on having her easier life.
