Spring

There once was a girl who was very shy, who clung to her mother, and oh! how she cried.

She would cry when she was tired and she would cry when she was not, because she liked the feeling of never growing up.

One day, in September, this girl stood still. As she saw a wildflower in the book at her school. She smiled when she saw it, for what did she see? She saw a brilliant flower, swaying in the breeze.

The months rolled past, and she tried to see the flower again. But her teacher wouldn't allow her to get the book again. So she cried again, and again, and again.

For she missed her flower, her friend.

But one day in Spring, right in her backyard, she saw a flower begin to sprout and it made her smiled after all.

She waited and watered and watched it grow. Praying and hoping it would spring a glow.

And it did grow. Up, up it grew. It grew faster than anything she ever knew. And as it sprung, sprung up in the sky, the little girl grew up, up, up in size.

She no longer cried and she no longer was scared, because the flower taught her some things that were too hard to hear.

With love and compassion the two friends grew up. Both gentle in beauty and happy in luck, they never drifted. The little girl would always tell of the Spring when her flower bloomed.
