Spring

It still brings hope

The call of the birds,

The leftover sprinkling of snow.

Baseball coming right around the

Corner

The skies are open,

The sun is awakened.

The clouds occasionally

Shed a tear in memory

Of the comforting chill.

T-shirts and shorts

Will once again appear.

Flip-flops soon

Will be replacing the

Fur-lined Uggs.

Longing for the beach

Will be a longing no more

In a few short weeks.

No more skiing or sledding,

Just grass and sand between our toes.

But for now

We sit

And enjoy

The new life

Sprouting around us.
