S.S. Friendship

I met him freshman year of high school

It wasn’t intentional, I just wanted to avoid the rain

But attempting to take his umbrella that day forged a friendship like no other.

I didn’t intend on making friends

But something about him made me feel warm

And from then on the friendship sored.

My feelings were romantic and his were plutonic but we came to a common ground

A cat and a dog learning to co-exist in the same house.

From that year on he held my sanity.

The friendship was a boat on a never ending journey

And with those journeys come massive difficulties

Rough seas, no wind, lighting, mutiny

But the boat always found a way to keep floating.

Those difficulties, the rough seas when we no longer spoke

Brought a great deal of sickness to my life.

To imagine that I spent fourteen years on this planet without this person is insane

It’s like a game and I found my power up.

No matter how mad we may be

And no matter how big the difficulty

We always find a way back into each other’s lives

This boat will sail on for the rest of eternity.
