The Stage
It is completely dark.
No soul dares to whisper
For even a sigh would break the silence.
It is completely still.
No mirth is portrayed here
But all understand how afire we truly are.
A light shines down;
One single, exuberant light incandesces
Piercing through the darkness like a merciless blade.
One light stands alone
As do I, now entering the stage
Out of the darkness; into the light.
I can see nothing
But the light, distant and exuberant
Like an eclipse against a vast, forgotten world
Carefully, eerily watching me,
Following my every move precisely and
Creating behind me a loyal shadow of uncertainty,
For all are waiting.
This instant is extraordinary.
The magic of this moment
Speaks through each and every heart.
But at this instant
I am no longer myself
And must become a person I am not.
