Stages

(poems gI feel my pulse racing through my body.
The rush is almost unbearable.
I use my fast pace to reach my target.
Using all the power I have, I launch the ball.
I watch it fly over the fresh-cut field.
Past the quick hands, it finds the back of the net.
My heart races and victory flows from my mouth.
Months pass and I finally hear back.
My future looks bright and beautiful.
Acceptance is one of the greatest accomplishments.
I’m eager to begin this journey.
Make new friends and foes along the way.
Go places that you only see in the movies.
It won’t be easy, but my goals push me.
They will soon be within my grasp.
Excitement pushes me to do my very best.
I follow no guidelines, I have no limits.
Just following my dreams to wherever they lead me.
Years pass, to a strange new place I go.
Here, an urban jungle, with a rush so fierce.
Every color, every race, everyone gathers here.
I see the bright lights of the giants towering over me.
Yellow cabs, huge billboards, in every direction.
Some fret this atmosphere, they lose themselves.
They become swallowed whole, with no trace of returning.
Not me. This is where I belong.
My mood and confidence is sky high.
I feel unstoppable to the world.
I always knew I’d end up here, have this future.
It’s my new, it’s my old, and it’s my now.
