Stains

They all tell us to make our marks in the World,

'It's a big world, Out There,

'So you need to learn this,

'Learn all I tell you,

'Because the World is what you make it.'

So we try, and take our steps,

Big and small,

Wide footed, or on tip-toes,

But we make our way,

Don't worry, that's what we're doing,

That's what we're trying to achieve.

But, as time goes by,

The world becomes the World,

As we become

Society,

And our marks on the World

Are more like stains,

smudges of irrelevance.

Hey, I'm seventeen, and many of those years have been spent devouring Italian mint chocolate chip ice-cream. I love Italian mint chocolate-chip ice-cream. You should really know that: that I LOVE ITALIAN MINT CHOCOLATE CHIP ICE-CREAM (okay, I think you get the picture now, huh?).
